CUPPING

Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of health problems. It helps the body reduce inflammation by using suction. Cupping utilizes round suction cups over a large muscular area to enhance blood circulation to the designated area. Bruising-like changes on skin, or small blistering may appear and last up to a week to subside. Cupping doesn’t hurt but if you have lots of stagnation in an area, a redness called ‘Sha’ may appear.

Cupping is also used for:

  • Relieving muscle tensions and tightness

  • Curing pain, stiffness and breathing problems

TUI NA

Tui Na therapy is a Chinese massage that stimulates the flow of Qi to promote balance and harmony within the body, using many of the same acupuncture points but the practitioners use fingers and special tools instead of needles to apply pressure to stimulate the points.

Tui Na is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. A Tui Na therapy typically happens whilst the person is still clothed. It involves a range of techniques from rolling, pressing and rubbing acupuncture points on the body which activates the flow of Qi and restores harmony. This technique dates back to over 3000 years ago and is used intensively in China. All hospitals in China have a Tui Na department and treat internal conditions and musculoskeletal conditions as well.

Tui Na is suitable for any age, from infants to the elderly.

Moxa therapy can take care of your health and wellness. Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called Moxa are burned very near to the surface of the skin. This intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. Sometimes patients who are receiving moxa will feel a sudden flooding of comfortable warmth. It indicates the arrival of Qi flowing in the meridians.

Moxa is used for:

  • Benefitting gynaecology issues

  • Preventing disease and promoting health

GUASHA

Gua Sha is a practice in which a smooth edge tool is used to scrape lubricated skin. This will produce the redness called ‘Sha’ which promotes blood circulation and can help release muscle tension.
